Research and evidence

A method that asks finance to trust its numbers has to show its own. This page lists what is public, what is in preparation and what has not been done yet.

Where things stand

Updated as each item changes.

The IACS-7 Standard

Published in full in The Friction Economics Standard (Volume IV), on Amazon.

Peer review

The method has not yet been peer reviewed or tested on observed client data.

Not yet

Credentials

No IACS credential has been issued. The first certification cohort is planned for January 2027.

The Standard defines how conformance would be assessed. No opinion has been issued and no firm is accredited to issue one.

Outside recognition

The Institute is a private body. It is not accredited by, or affiliated with, ISO or any national standards or accreditation body.

Client data

Client data is never published without the client's written approval of the final text. Every worked example is constructed and says so.

The record

Replication archive for The Friction Economics Standard

Replication files for the Standard, deposited on Zenodo. doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.23449339

Public

Two papers on the method

One on friction counts, exposure and churn using public data; one on a measurement scale for friction economics, with a university co-author.

The Solvency Paradox, an earlier preprint

Tested only on simulated data and not peer reviewed. Its index and quadrants are not the constructs of the Standard, and the Standard does not rely on its results. doi.org/10.13140/RG.2.2.36573.88808

How the Institute checks its own claims

  • Every outside statistic carries its source and date. Figures that cannot be traced to their claimed source are named as such, not repeated.
  • Every worked example is constructed, labeled as constructed, and published with its inputs so it can be checked by hand.
  • Client data is never published without the client's written approval of the final text.
  • Every confirmed error in a book is listed on the dated corrections page.

Contribute data

The method needs observed data from real customer books.

Organizations in the Founding Cohort contribute anonymized data to the Institute's research and may be named as contributing sites. No figure is ever attributed to a named organization.
